The list originally was contained in a Unix alias file. Some time later it graduated to the Majordomo list management software. </div><br> <div> Now almost 11 years later we have about 3500 subscribers to si-list. They range from students just getting their feet wet in engineering to world renown experts in the field. They hail from both industry and academia in just about every country in the world that is involved in signal integrity related endeavors. </div><br> <div> The original precept for si-list was to provide a forum for the exchange of technical conversation related to Signal Integrity and related fields. Over the years we have endeavored to keep the majority of the list traffic on the technical level and to discourage the use of the forum for advertising and head-hunting. To that end I think we have been remarkably successful. </div><br> <div> The original si-list ran on an old Sparc-10 workstation recovered from the trash bin and resided in our SI lab at Sun Microsystems in Milpitas California. When our group moved to Mountain View and then to Menlo Park, California the old Sparc-10 moved along and kept on hosting si-list. </div><br> <div> A couple years ago we made the decision to move the list off of Sun Microsystem facilities and to host it elsewhere. It is now hosted on the facilities of freelists.org in Indianapolis, Indiana. Freelists mission in life is to host technically oriented mail lists.
